I took this course in the Fall of 2009 with Paul Kurf. He is also my advisor in the Education Department at Michigan State University, so I had some pressure to perform well. It was one of the few classes I took where I actually knew my professor, not just having conversations over the internet. Mr. Kurf had us thinking about our whole teaching careers, including aspects of how we can become leaders for our specific departments, not just in our classrooms. We had to perform a lot of reading assignments and write a lot of essays. I was not far enough along in my pursuit of a MATC degree, so Mr. Kurf deferred my requirement of making a web portfolio (http://lialmmatc.weebly.com/) and synthesis paper. I finished both of those during the Spring 2011, while I had three other classes. It was too much and consumed every minute I had outside of teaching. For the last four months, all I have done is sit at my computer and plug away.
